Because modern fucking art. thats HOW.

It’s so… incredibly unfair. Lots of skilled (and usually young) artists, who master composition and colors and MOTHERFUCKING ANATOMY can’t even sell their masterpieces despite the hours of work and put into them and money invested in materials, and this thing that looks like it’s done with the kind of markers a 3-year-old uses (and looks scribbled by a 3-year-old’s non dominant hand) sells for 1,400 FUCKING DOLLARS.

And then we worry about improving our skills.

What for.

This is the kind of shit that’s popular in the art community where I live, and it’s INFURIATING. Art like mine gets looked over as being “meh” while bland paintings of nothing but stripes or something equally simple gets praised and fawned over like there’s no tomorrow. I understand the merits of modern and abstract art, but unless that artist can actually draw half descent they should not be respected as an artist. Kind of like how I can respect Picasso’s abstract works because he could also do realism quite well.

It still takes knowledge to make modern abstract art, but I think it’s pretty darn overpriced.
